Title: Sites like this one
Post by: Nelson on February 25, 2007, 10:41:21 PM
Greetings, everyone.  I love this site.  I am not so much interested in the comics themselves but I love reading the storylines.  I love Superman and Superboy in the golden and silver ages.  Are there other sites like this one, so I simply may read the stories for content, or does anyone know where I can get very cheap beatup comics simply for the storylines.

Thanks to everyone.  Nelson.

The best I can tell you is via torrent.  There are many collectors out there who are scanning their old comic collections and issuing them as a torrent.  I've recently gotten all Superman and Action Comics since their inception, Sensation comics (with Wonder Woman), etc.  They aren't terribly big files but they are definitely worth acquiring for a digital library to refer to old art work and stories.  Sometimes the quality is good, sometimes a bit rough but definitely worth checking into.

Once, I used to be able to get coverless versions of messed up, cut up versions that you could buy for a few bucks - but that stopped well in the late 80's.  So, viva the 'net.  (Thank you, Al Gore (ha ha ha ha))!

There are a few other websites with online Superman comics - the ones I know of are listed on the comic-book link page (http://superman.nu/a/tales-links.php).

But most of the material is on bittorrent, various livejournal communities, and imageshack.  Just gotta look around.
