Quote from: "Daybreaker"

Lois Lane is the kind of girl you could be friends with, maybe, if she promised to behave herself.  But even that would be doomed to failure, because friendship would never be enough for her.  In her own way, she was actually Superman's most consistent villain all through the Silver Age, constantly seeking to expose his secret for her own selfish reasons, trying to control and domesticate a man for whom that kind of life might hold some daydreaming appeal, but for whom that life was also completely impractical and far too dangerous to indulge in.

At least Lana Lang showed that she is capable of keeping a secret.  Even though Kal-El went out of his way to make her seem not to. (I recall the story where Superboy had stuck a piece of Green K on a lightning rod and lost his memory due to a lightning bolt)

For those who want to be spared the horror of reading it Wink :

And, Lana did have the courage to fight against one of the most powerful super-villians alongside Superboy and three members of the Legion of Super Heroes: Mordru.

At least she had an idea of what type of life Superman led.

Oddly enough, one of Chuck Austen's aims was to make Lana Clark's love interest again when he first started his Action run, citing Lois' gold-digging antics of recent years as proof that the marriage wasn't working. Too little, too late, says I. You'd be better off creating a new character to be Superman's girlfriend and just have Lois be the self-absorbed stalker with a mean streak.

The sad part is, neither Noel Neill or Phyllis Coates' renditions of Lois were anywhere near as conniving (or, as seen in the recent comics, mean) as the comic book version. Nor were Margot Kidder and Teri Hatcher's versions. The mass media conception of Lois is much more sympathetic and worthier of being Supes' bride. The comic book version? Get a divorce lawyer and be snappy about it.

There is no real way to handle the current situation with Lois without having the misigony charge leveled at DC.  Thank you, Identity Crisis.

If All Stars does well, DC might just shuffle the current Superman off into limbo, leaving the Animated and All Stars versions.

I kept meaning to respond to this eloquent statement but I kept losing where this thread was.

Very well said, Daybreaker!  To be honest, I never saw it that way before you laid it out here, but you did hit the nail on the head.  Lois was Superman's most consistent villain, in her own way.  Step aside, Luthor and Brainiac, and let the real top of Superman's Rogues Gallery through.

Didn't you know? Lois is already dead. Superman killed her.

Divorce could work. There's enough substantial evidence against Lois that Clark could break it off with her and people wouldn't have a cow over it (unless they're fanatical FoLCs, that is). She doesn't need to die for this abusive marriage to end. All they have to do is end it and let them go their separate ways. It wouldn't have to be IC all over again.

We can only hope.
