"The bottom line involves choices. Neither gods nor humans have ever stood calmly in a minefield forever. Good or evil, they are bound to choose. And when they do, you will see the truth of all that motivates us. As a thinking being, you have the obligation to choose. If the fate of all mankind were in your hands, what would your decision be? As a writer and an artist, I've drawn my answer."

Ah, was off my one in the issue reference I gave in the "Red Son" thread--the curse of age, I suppose.
A lighthearted, almost whimsical tale, right up until page 18, when Maggin begins to inject a bit of that magic he's so good at, where he strips away the story medium and begins to get at the heart of what Superman, and his relationship with humanity, is all about.
The narration during Superman's battle with the Martian fleet remains some of my favourite in any Superman story ever.
Nice to see you thought to put this one up, 'Rao!

Well, I'd been thinking about it, and then the story came up in conversation, so I moved it a bit higher up the list :-)
I'm glad you like it! It's one of my favorites as well.
