Post by: Anonymous on January 25, 2006, 07:10:34 PM
what era are these comics from.. it's seems to me it's very early 40's style of superman as the S isignia flucataes and we have stories of futuremenfrom the year 2000 which wouldnt have made since at a later date.. even the 60's.

1959 to 1963

The information is right on the first page with all the credits and copyright info.  I can not recall what they call that page, but it's there

I don't think that being from the year 2000 made sense even in 1959 (when the story was written)... or that the world would believe that Superman was an escaped refugee space pirate despite having been a superhero since childhood... or how weirdly drawn Pa Kent looked in that flashback (vs. the usual appearances of him at the time)... guess can see why E. Nelson Bridwell decided this story took place on Earth-Two. :-)

In a normal book this is a title page. Here it's part of the indicia.

Showcase Presents Superman Family #1 (Out this March) will feature:
Jimmy Olsen #1-22 & Showcase #9 (1st solo Lois Lane) with contents chronologically from:  Sept-Oct 1954 thru Aug 1957

Showcase Present Superman #2 (June according to Amazon's list) will probably feature: Superman # 134-145, Annual #1-2, Action #258-275
Nov 1959-April 1961

The "S" insignia also varied by artist more than decade.
Schaffenbergers :s: vs Swan's vs Plastino etc
