Title: Shusters Voting
Post by: TELLE on March 19, 2005, 02:55:37 AM
Although I have mixed feelings about the Shuster Awards, I encourage all Canadians interested in mainstream comics to vote in these awards.

It's kind of odd that an award for Canuck cartoonists be named for someone who left Canada when he was 10 years old ( a better choice might be Adrian Dingle, the great artist behind Nelvana (http://www.time-cat.com/valentines.html), the first Canadian superhero).

Anyway, for Superman fans, Stuart Immonen of Superman: Secret Identity is nominated.  As well, the excellent Darwyn Cooke's The New Frontier is nominated in the cartoonist category.  This is a beautiful series that plays with some of the more interesting ideas of the early Silver Age.
