Title: I LOVE eBay!
Post by: Gernot on March 21, 2005, 10:14:46 AM
I've gotten SO much kewl schtuff off of there (ALL Superman-related, too!) lately!

Lessee...

I got the Justice League Superman Launcher (gumball machine toy)

Super Sonic Superman  13" tall

Superman 18" tall beanie (JL)

A BUNCH of the hardcover British Annuals (great Golden, Silver, and Bronze Age stories in those things!)

Both Superman Microverse sets

The Quick Restaraunt 8" tall Superman figure (JL)

Superman Postal Magnet

and a bunch more schtuff!  My wife's makin' me cut back now, so I'm gonna work some overtime, so she'll let me get more stuff!  LOL  (Actually, I let HER get what SHE wants, too!  I even buy her some stuff, too!  ;)  )

Ya know, we ought to start a thread called "eBay Finds!"  When I see things cheap on eBay, I'll post a link, and if anyone's interested, they can check 'em out.  I PROMISE not to be behind any of the auctions.  In FACT, that's a RULE.

RULES:

1)  It's GOTTA be Superman-related!

2)  It CANNOT be your own auction!

I'm gonna look on eBay now!  ;)

I love it too (nice stuff, by the way.) Lately, I've been building a Superman collection with stuff I can get for a dollar...but I went a little over for this....a 1921 American Express ad "What if there were a Super-Man?"

I'm going to frame this! Check it out:

That's great, Gangbuster!  Congrats!

I agree, though, on setting limits on eBay.  Geez!  You can REALLY go deeply into debt on that place without even REALIZING it!

I bought the Superboy pvc set when it came out.  It's fun.  If you have enough stuff - you can make a display of Luthor bust, luthor fig, Luthor pvc.  Then you can do the same with Superboy.  The parents, you can put comic books in the background or have them standing over them, ect...  Possibilities are endless - it's too bad Dc never made a Superman pvc set...

Friend :(

I wanted to use my baby Kal-El as baby Jesus in a manger scene, with the PVC Lex Luthor holding the Kryptonite.

THINK about it:  Lex is a wise man, and Kryptonite's a precious, rare mineral!

An Argentinian Superman knock-off
A Japanese Superman knock-off
The World's Greatest Superheroes Newspaper Paperback book
Lex Luthor heroclix

There's some other schtuff I'm bidding on, too!  Wish me luck (just good, now, y'hear?)  ;)

My recent eBay stuff:

For 1 dollar:

Superman From the 30s to the 70s (1971, Hardcover)
The Superman Radio Show (eps. 1-27, Smithsonian casette release)
Superman Smashes the Secret of the Mad Director (graphic novel, 1966)
Elliot S! Maggin: Last Son of Krypton AND Miracle Monday (2 for $1!)
1988 Time Magazine: He's 50! (Curt Swan cover) with some TV Guide about Smallville

I also got Tales of the Bizarro World for $2 and about a month ago someone offered to sell me an original 1978 "You'll Believe a Man Can Fly" poster from eBay. I bought it, of course...25 dollars.

Now I have no money to spend on S-stuff for a while  :P

I'm leaving this week for a Habitat-for-Humanity type of mission trip...there goes all my money for now.

I lost a bid on the Fleischer-style Lois Lane statue last night

Normally these statues are too expensive...I got the Superboy and Krypto statue for half price on ebay though, and the Silver-Age Smallville PVC set.

But Lois....nnngah!

I don't know what it is about that plane, but I love it, too!  Man, I wish I could afford it!  ;)

And I can't afford any of the statues, except for the one that came with Les Daniel's Superman book a few years back.  I DO have the Superman and Luthor JL paperweights and Superman and Supergirl bobbleheads, though!  ;)

Woo Hoo!  I just made a couple of button purchases, a couple of toy purchases, and for LESS than $50, I just scored almost 150 Bronze Age Superman comics!

I got a BUNCH of

Superman
Action
DC Comics Presents
Superman Family
World's Finest

A LOT of these I haven't read in YEARS.  I'm in comicbook HEAVEN right now!  ;)

That Superman toy IS beautiful!

Man, I wish DCD, Mattel, or SOMEBODY could get all the molds from toys made in the past and re-release all the Superman, Batman, and whomever toys.

I know I'd LOVE to get a 1960's Creepy Crawler Superman mold again!  :)

Do they make repros of these?  The detail is quite well done.

 It looks like they just found some kid named Jerry Siegel and got him to draw a picture...and they're making a ton of money!

I work with a bunch of of people whose last name is Lee...all I have to do now is nickname one of them "Stan" and I'll be rich!
