Title: SA Superman figures coming in May!
Post by: nightwing on September 20, 2005, 12:03:54 PM
News of these figures came out a few weeks ago, but these are the first pictures I've seen:

http://www.comicbookresources.com/news/newsitem.cgi?id=5921

These things are fantastic!  DC may not know how to make comics anymore, but they're tops at figures.

Luthor even has his "Space/Time Thought Scanner"!

Great stuff!

I like the extra Beppo figure that comes with the Superman Robot:

There was a time when I never would have believed we'd ever see such things.

As a matter of fact, I still don't believe it!

I think that someone in DC Direct must be reading this site.

Is that Macduff that comes with Super-Monkey?

 :D

Well, I guess it goes without saying that if you folks have any interest whatever in action figures, please buy these things!  I still can't believe DC is devoting a whole wave to a period they've ignored and dumped on for so long, but if these things sell well, maybe, just maybe there will be more forthcoming.

Don't get me wrong, I'm grateful for these...very grateful...but before I pass on to that big Fortress in the sky I'd love to see a Silver Age Brainiac, Bizarro, Jor-El and Lara and...dare I dream it...Nightwing and Flamebird!

Meanwhile, I am astonishingly close to putting together a three-dimensional version of that beloved group portrait from the back cover of Superman Annual no. 6!  I can honestly say I never thought I'd see the day...

I intend to get them.  I'm hoping for an Insect Queen to come out sometime.

How are they going to handle Comet?

Another Supergirl(the hot pants Supergirl) figure and Comet comes with her?

we already had two Pre-Reboot Supergirls, I don't think there will be a third one.

All of the Superpets have been made into plush toys however, including comet.

and don't forget this set, for some more people in that pic:

Uh huh.  Just how many versions of Superman are there?

How about Kyle Rayner or Hal Jordan?

Or probably the worst offender: Batman?

The hot pants version of Supergirl is an established icon.  It makes some sense to bring out that version as an action figure.

Yeah, but Supergirl isn't Batman, or Superman, and she's dead. Plus her comics all bombed and were cancel. I like her a lot, but we are lucky to get even two figures!

I hope there is a third with Comet, but it would be a shocker, a happy shocker, but a shocker.

I think a horse would be about the biggest thing DCD ever did, plastic figure-wise.  I'm not holding my breath.

Not that I'm too upset about it.  As a kid I always thought, "a super dog? That's cool!...A super monkey? Wild!...A super-cat? Well, okay...but a super-HORSE?! Now that's just dumb!"

Hi gang,

Check my homepage for a the Smallville pvc with built in mini-mini-town...LOL!
I think that DC is gonna an extra 100 miles!  With the movie on the roll, we're going to see a super-year of super-products!  If some of you collect as I do, better get ready to live without one of your test1cules...that you're gonna have to sell....  Lucky for me, Brainiac, I have four...

Thankfully it is the easiest Figure to make a custom of, all all you need to do is buy a white horse and slap a superman cape on it.

Yes, but don't horses eat a lot?  And I hear they're a bit expensive.

Sure, but you get to ride it into sunsets. So it's worth the money.

Heh.  As for Comet, they could make him, then use his body to make Shining Knight's Winged Victory, AND Terra Man's winged horse!  (Did T-M's horse ever have a name?  Were there any other horses in the DCU?)

;)

Well all the Western characters had horses, naturally, though I'm not sure they all rated names.  Didn't DC do a Dale Evans book?  That would put Buttermilk in the DC roster of super stars! :)

I think there was a "ghost horse" for JEB Stuart over in "Haunted Tank," too.

NOVA!  THAT was Terra-Man's horse's name!  ;)

I'd just read "Terra-Man Times Two!" in an issue of Superman!  Heh.

Hi,

Like I said on the DC boards, I would have been happy with just Krypto but Streaky came with him.  Now I learn that I'm gonna get Beppo.  I don't feel anymore like I have three super-pets - I feel like I'm short of one...LOL!  That's the collector's curse LOL!

Visit my site on October 10th for a special new tribute gallery in honor of Chris Reeve!

Don't worry, DC will probably issue a box set with the whole Legion of Super-pets, and you can pay about 50 bucks to get Comet and duplicates of all the ones you already have.

At least "Proty" is an easy addition.  Just set a lump of sculpey next to the other pets and you're good to go.

The great thing about the Lois (despite her Shaffenberger-esque good looks) is the miniature Daily Planet she comes with!
