Title: Martin Nodell is 90!
Post by: TELLE on November 16, 2005, 02:44:16 AM
Happy Birthday Martin Nodell, co-creator with the great Bill Finger, of Green Lantern.

Born in 1915.

I dimly remember that Nodell was attempting to take advantage of the copyright changes that the Siegel family is concerned with but am unsure as to the status of that case.

And both Roy "The Boy" Thomas and Terry Gilliam are a whopping 65 today.

Happy Birthday House Roy!

I wonder what Roy's Top 10 additions to the Superman mythos are?

10. himself as a character
9. spear of destiny

what else?

Actually I'm pretty sure it was Paul Levitz who introduced the Spear of Destiny in DC Special #29, a few years before Roy got to handle the JSA.  Of course he took it and ran...

Roy Thomas created the two "Supermen" of Earth-C and Earth-C Minus, Captain Carrot and Super Squirrel.

On a more serious note, he also created "Infinity Inc.", an Earth-2 organization that once included Power Girl.  Roy Thomas also created the "All-Star Squadron", which once had the Earth-2 Superman as a member prior to the Crisis.

Roy Thomas also popularized the term "retroactive continuity" (later shortened to "retcon"), which of course plays a BIG role when discussing both Superman's history AND Thomas' Infinity Inc. / All-Star Squadron series!
