Comics fans and nerds of all stripes will be delighted to know that several of the worst toys of 2005 have something to do with our hobby.

Included on this year's list are the Thing Hands, LOTR cross-bow, and Star Wars pellet gun.

BREAKING NEWS - THING HANDS CAN HURT YOU
Dateline: Christmas Morning.
Squib: Well-Meaning Dad Cracked in Nads by Rocky, Play “Hands”

In a dubious honor, Toy Biz’s Fantastic Four Electronic Thing Hands have been named as one of the ten most dangerous toys this holiday season because, apparently, you can hit things with them.

The hands were listed by World Against Toys Causing Harm, Inc. (W.A.T.C.H.), a Massachusetts charitable non-profit corporation in it’s annual listing of dangerous items that might mistakenly be given as gifts by unsuspecting well-wishers.

WATCH’s warning for the hands reads:

W.A.T.C.H. OUT! These oversized fists, resembling those of a popular comic book and movie character, are sold to enable six year olds to "smash!" and "crash!" just like the "super strong creature." Remarkably, at the same time children are encouraged to engage in "clobberin time!", parents are warned that the toy is "intended to be used only for dress-up fantasy play", and that "serious injury could result" should it be used to strike a person or pet.

The Thing Feet were ignored by the group, though the list also includes Star Wars and Lord of the Rings toys...and Baby Serena, Fisher Price's "Little Mommy Bath Doll" and Animal Alley Ponies - but we always knew they were evil.

This kind of listing isn't new for comic-rated toys at the holidays, as the Reverand Christopher Rose for years, released a listing of the "Top 10 Warped Toys," with McFarlane Toys figures usually making several appearances, as well as Wolverine-themed toys.

And looking at similiar treatment for the Thing's green-skinned pal, Toy Biz's "Hulk Hands" received an award in early 2004 from the Toy Industry Association for being the best "Boy Toy of the Year" (no jokes about Madonna, please), but no nods for being dangerous, and were not named on WATCH's 2003 list.

If you were to exclude safety as a factor, I would say that all 10 of the worst toys of 2005 were Fantastic Four toys.

Just take a stroll through the toy section and look at them, and I'm sure you would agree.
