Title: 700 Entries! Post by: TELLE on December 04, 2005, 09:13:48 PM And I thought 666 was amazing. Congrats to all contributors, the Supermanica is becoming a wonderful resource.
I wonder, is it possible to create another 100 entries by New Year's? That would be quite an accomplishment. Alternately, I think we should adopt a long-term plan for 2007: the original Supermanica by Fleisher had over 1000 entries. I now think that 2000 entries is possible. Am I dreaming? Double the original book? We have 20 more years and several more canonical titles to work with. Title: Re: 700 Entries! That might be too much if you want to make good entries. doing 2,000 in the long run is foreseeable, but we haven't even finish some of the main entries like: Superman Lois Lane Jimmy Olsen I rather see people start working on those again and finish them. Lois and Jimmy are not even close to being finish. I added tons to Superman, but it is far from complete. Title: Re: 700 Entries! It is these sorts of articles, already waiting in the original TGSB, that will take us to 800 by early next year. The larger task at hand is the fleshing out of the longer major articles on the immediate Superman family and entirely new articles on other aspects of the canon (every villain and significant supporting character post 1970, Bronze Age adventures of the family, and pre-Bronze aspects of the canon not included in the TGSB). Whew! A major slog ahead!
Nevertheless, what has already been acheived is a beautiful thing. In my opinion we have already surpassed many of the aspects of the original, just by being web-based, with color images, links, etc. Title: Re: 700 Entries! Super Monkey, when I started my cheer-leader bit about 800 entries, I was very pessimistic and figured that if I wanted to see us reach that number I would have to force it somehow, writing a ton of new entries myself. Now I know that the project will just keep growing even without me upping my production beyond approx one a week. Honestly, Supermanica is just doing gangbusters! Title: Re: 700 Entries! Maybe our next major project could be choosing a particular article (ie, Superman or a portion thereof) and ganging up on it. For instance, we could launch a "Project: Superman" or "Project: Perry White" for the month of January. |
