Hello,

I am new here and I am a HUGE fan of the 1984 movie with Helen Slater, I have several movie memorabilia including the Topps trading cards, story book, signed photo by Helen Slater, etc.

What I was wondering was, is there a website with screen captures from the movie and promo shots of Helen and/or the other cast members?

It is almost impossible to find anything these days.

I am so glad a friend gave me this forum.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Y'all! I'm just wondering where any of you can get the Supergirl movie ( all  if possible), because it's tottally rare in the movie stores i've been through  Example(European extended version,U.S .A Tristar version and Direc tors Cut)

Hey I have one question, Supergrl5013 that Picture you have on the avatar, what comic series is that from? I feel like I saw that supergirl in a cover on an ad, but I don't remember what comic it was or when it came out or what. Any info would be appreciated.

It's Cir-El from last year's 10 Cent Adventure.  She claimed to be Superman's daughter from the future.

I got it on DVD from Columbia House last year. You also might be able to have your local vid outlet special order it for you.

Try Amazon.com.  They should have all available versions of the movie.

I think you may need some hypnotherapy sessions. I've seen Supergirl with Helen Slater at least once and I can't help wondering what it's got to do with Supergirl as in DC Comics. I'd go so far as to say it's sacreligious! I can imagine Supergirl comics writers, artists, etc going to a Premiere of it and saying something like "Great movie! Who wrote the comics?".

Another major fan of the movie here. I've recentley set up a site about the movie with screencaps, only Argo City ones at the moment but i'm in the process of making the rest which should all be completed in a day or two. I was always miffed about the lack of pics too. Very nice website, Miss Danvers.  In the future you might want to add production notes and links to other Supergirl movie sites.

Supergirl's movie costume could merit its own section, since this was later modified for the post-Crisis Matrix.  In fact, due to the movie and the long Matrix/Linda Lee run (which can be purchased at costume shops) the general public probably recognizes THIS uniform as THE "Classic Supergirl", even though the Silver Age Kara Zor-El never actually wore it in the mainstream DC titles!  (She did wear this in three comic books published by DC -- the movie adaptation of course, and two "Seatbelt Safety Specials".)  

And if you look at http://superman.nu/supergirl/costumes/1983/ (http://superman.nu/supergirl/costumes/1983/), you'll find that this WASN'T the original movie design -- in fact, Supergirl flew to her destiny in the Crisis wearing the costume first intended for Helen Slater!

A side-by-side comparison of the Helen Slater and Matrix costumes shows that Matrix's costume

1.  Has pointed sleeves.
2.  Has belt loops and sharper "V" cut on skirt beltline and hemline.
3.  Depending on artist, the top of the "S" shield touches the collar.
4.  Different-shaped boot tops ("V" notch in front) lacking gold trim.
5.  Lacks bracelet on left wrist.

However, the blue top/red skirt combo worn by Helen and Matrix became so associated with Supergirl that during the "Many Happy Returns" arc the colorists occasionally goofed and gave the time-displaced Kara Zor-El a red skirt instead of her original all-blue ensemble!  This was mostly corrected in the trade paperback.
