Title: "Our" Superman
Post by: TELLE on December 15, 2005, 10:42:55 PM
Nice article at the normally horrific ComicBokBin:

"Our" Superman --what does DC mean when they use that phrase and what are our individual experiences of Superman.

The site also features a Crisis primer and some interesting thoughts on the state of comics journalism online (hint: it ain't good).

The author does make some good comments.  DC seems to be only recognizing the current version as Superman.  A pity actually.

He was doing so well until the end:

Quote
Ultimately, there is no right or wrong Superman (okay, I take that back. Electric Blue Superman WAS wrong), or a "real" Superman. There's just Superman, with a number of common threads that have run through the character over the years. The cape flapping in the gentle breeze, the S on the chest, the wink in the eye to those of us in on the secret. It's all good... and it's going to get better.

the wink in the eye to those of us in on the secret...

That's wrong since the secret is different for the Iron Age Superman, who is literally not really Superman, and that's cannon by DC.
