Title: Legion of Super-Heroes Animated Series concept sketches

It's good to see Timber Wolf in his old Curt Swan designed Silver Age togs.

Krypto the Super-Dog was a wildly entertaining show - hopefully, they won't drop the ball here.

Their choices are interesting: Superboy, Phantom Girl, Saturn Girl, Brainiac 5 (also in his Silver Age gear), Timber Wolf (who looks like he has his 5-year gap era Furball powers, which I loved the look of, but disliked what it did to his character; here it looks like best of both worlds), and XS from the Peyer years as the required ethnic Legionnaire. Is that Bouncing Boy, Chuck Taine, I see in the background?

WHY, I DO BELIEVE IT IS!  :D

I'm not crazy about the Japanime style (as much I love, and still love SCIENCE NINJA TEAM GATCHAMAN) but then again, I loved the Batman animated show and the "simplified, blocky" animated style bugged me there, too.

XS is Jenni Ognats of Aarok, a member of the "Zero Hour" Legion (1996-2004).  She's the daughter of Dawn Allen Ognats, one of the "Tornado Twins", so Jenni is the grand-daughter of Barry Allen and the cousin of Bart Allen (Kid Flash, formerly Impulse).

XS was one of the more appealling new members of this Legion incarnation.  She is currently lost somewhere in the timestream with most of her fellow Legionnaires (making way for the Waid reboot), but it's interesting to see her in the proposed animated Legion.  Perhaps the show needs a dedicated speedster, though I suspect her ancestry will be retconned to Wally West rather than Barry.

I would prefer a more realistic approach, more now that the JLU show has ended (what a mazing final fight between supes and darkseid). but who knows maybe would be a great series.

The sketches are just too stylized for me, but I guess, wait and see...

I don't care about that, as long as it teaches children that the REAL Superboy is a young Superman and his teenage name is Clark Kent.

Not a big fan of the exaggerated style, but I'll give the show a chance. Nice to see Superboy is a member, and that there's a general Silver Age influence.

I would argue that the reason Bouncing Boy gets no respect is because he, like Hawkman, was created for the wrong medium. If your power is flying, you don't look at all interesting on a page; you just "hang" there. Bouncing Boy, when you add movement around, suddenly has a power that seems much more impressive. Imagine him bouncing and flipping around at high speeds!

Frankly, I can't wait to see the villains they're going to use. Universo? Dig his egg-bald pate. You know, some bald people are pretty much not evil, though you wouldn't see that in Superman-related comics.

Mordru? It would be interesting to hear him talk; a friend of mine at my comics store have a standing wager that when Mordru talks he has this thick Sean Connery-esque accent, and finally we can have something to solve this particular bet.

I hope they bring in Sun Boy. He was my personal favorite Legionnaire, and it's telling that in the Legion, where everyone has such great costumes, that his costume stands out above the rest, with the fins, collar, and the red and yellow.

Ditto for Matter Eater Lad. His power is so insane that it HAS to be set to celluloid.

You friend isnt the only one who thinks Mordru should sound like Connery. My pals over at the Silver Age Legion site have been saying that for years!

A good site, except they think a good choice to play Bouncing Boy would be The Monkey's Uncle himself, Tommy Kirk. No freakin' way.

Gidget as Light Lass? Over Jim Shooter's dead body!

That was if a LSH flick was done in the early 1960s  - I liked Natalie Wood as Triplicate Girl myself. I think the bulk of those choices were suggested by a reader who wrote to the Adventure LOC back then.

Have you seen their LSH trailer using Curt Swan art ala Marvel Super Heroes original cartoon show where they manipulated Kirby comic panels right from the page?

Heh - I even contributed my rather sad attempt at vocal thesping for both Brainiac 5 and Tharok.  Explains a lot about me. lol
