Huh! I notice from the Gold K article that the permanent loss of powers is inherited by the offspring, which means that Alan Moore got it wrong in Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow, where the powerless Superman's infant son is shown crushing a lump of coal into a diamond.

That just means that the Chronicles contradict themselves.  Such things have happened before, and both events should be presented.

If we are to treat the Moore story as part of continuity, and not as an "imaginary story" (which is listed as a theoretcial concept in Supermanica), then we also have to imagine that Superman, who is a scientific genius, may have found a way to reverse the effect in his child or that Lois found a way to have a super-child or that the child was somehow exposed to superpowers accidentally or that Lois hides diamonds in her coal bin, disguised as coal with a very soft shell.

You cracked it! Clearly Lois hides diamonds in her coal-scuttle; let's face it, she's just the type, and what's more, she probably has more diamonds than she knows what to do with from the days she was dating Superman.

I added the Alan Moore story to the Gold-K entry (http://superman.nu/wiki/index.php/Gold_Kryptonite) - but I also noticed that the Superboy picture is from another imaginary story, which seems to not be referenced in the text!  We should probably add those events as well.  The text box in that same picture also mentions that the Gold-K effect is delayed, another tidbit not mentioned in the text.

That was from Adventure Comics No. 299, Aug 1962: "The Unwanted Superbaby".

Which I belive was the 1st Gold K story ever, I guess to test the idea of Gold K.

Yes, that would make a great story: what did Lois do with all the treasures she received from Superman?  My favourite gift, never delivered, was the perfect pearl necklace Superman was making to give to Lois in the event of his death (he also worked on a sports car for Jimmy).
Whenver he had a day off, Superman would scour the ocean for perfect pearls, slowly accumulating them over years.

I added another one:

I felt it was needed.

Yeah, I was thinking that category would be good...

I was thinking that Lead has played a large part in the comics, perhaps someone should try creating an entry for it.

Yikes, lead, there must be a million mentions of lead...is there any "starter" entry in TGSB?

I might try to start up a gold entry, it has some history in Fort Knox adventures, the Gold Volcano of Krypton, and Superbaby went searching for it when Ma Kent lost an earring...

no, since it would have taken up the whole book! LOL!

I been thinking of all the ways that Superboy and Superman used lead, man I guess that was before people figured out lead poisoning, I mean there was this one story in which he melted lead and cover his body with it with a big smile on his face "that Green K can't hurt me now".  I bet they ate it, drunk it, bathe with it, brushed their teeth with lead toothpaste, baked lead cookies, etc I bet they used it for everything, not very good role models if you ask me.

That's what I was afraid of, even a reference to its first Golden Age use to screen kryponite radiation would be good, I assume after kryptonite was established as radioactive...

Still, no other Earth metal was probably as important to Superman's adventures...

I added to the Gold Entry.

It would be nicer to include a pic of Gold from a Superman comic, rather than a photo.

If you can find one, that would be cool...I just put that one in like the photo of the moon is in right now...cool new entries for gold there...

I added a stub for lead, time to start looking for specifics...

Well, at least there is a start on lead...thanks for the help, I'm sure it needs a lot more and maybe more re-arranging... 8)

Looks like Green Kryptonite is done!

Lead still needs some help by any volunteers... 8)

Should the Kryptonite entries be categorized as Elements?  It seems like they meet the qualifications as much as any comic book materials...

It says "gems, elements, minerals" or something on the Elements category page and I think it should stay that way.  Kryptonite should be there.

Kryptonite is already Subcategory of Elements.

just see here: http://superman.nu/wiki/index.php/Category:Elements

This is why I never muck around with categories, LOL... 8)

I know that Kryptonite is any surviving fragment of the doomed planet Krypton - but a planet is composed of many elements, each with their own atomic number.  Supermanica states

Quote from: "Supermanica"
When the planet Krypton exploded into fragments as the result of a cataclysmic chain reaction originating at the planet’s core, all of Krypton’s atomic elements “fused to become one deadly compound,” a compound later to become known as Kryptonite (S No. 61/3, Nov/Dec 1949: “Superman Returns to Krypton!”).

But becoming one compound isn't the same as becoming one element.  http://www.nyu.edu/pages/mathmol/textbook/compounds.html

Yes I know, but it was the best name I could come up with at the time.

It seems like elements, compounds, minerals, and even serums are going to have to be loosely defined, I suppose the category could be "elements" in quotes, or substances...
