Title: Captain Marvel and the Bomb
Post by: TELLE on June 29, 2006, 06:45:29 PM
Over at the Comics Comics blog, a great discussion of an old Capt. Marvel story concerning radioactivity and nuclear war.

Greta images and trenchant commentary.  Comics Comics is a new free magazine.

Interesting...I think they definitely had the leg up on DC, who at the time dealt with the atomic bomb as something Luthor could make into a grenade-sized weapon and toss at Superman ("Battle of the Atoms")...

I suppose that story was a shock for the children in 1946. There is something scary in those pages, seeing Captain Marvel unable to solve things while the world is destroied.
A great tale, really.
