Title: Why are the Phanty-Cats evil?
Post by: MatterEaterLad on July 27, 2006, 10:15:05 PM
Were they evil because their masters were, or were they evil on their own accord...and were the litter boxes especially villainous?

Being put in the Phantom Zone for no reason would make me cranky and evil too. Now, putting all these bad guys in the Phantom Zone, okay, that's fine, but their CATS?

My question is, why is it that Streaky's descendant in the 30th Century, Whizzy, had all these superpowers, but Laurel Kent had to settle for just invulnerability?

Also: has it occurred to you that perhaps, ALL cats are evil, and the Phanty-Cats are merely the only ones able to act on it?

It does bother me that, aside from Streaky and his descendant, in general cats in the chronicles are evil and fitting opponents to dogs.  Of course, since Krypto came first, and in folklore dogs and cats share an antagonism, the cats are logical choices as enemies.

That doesn't explain why a pet cat becomes evil just because its master is evil.  This is the logic of the chronicles (see the Kryptonite Kid's dog, for example) but it is not usually true in real life.

That being said, I love the Phanty Cats and Streaky should meet them.

Would love to see something like that on the Cartoon Network "Krypto the Superdog" cartoon... too bad I hear it's probably going to be cancelled...
