Title: "That's why far and wide..."
Post by: binarysunrise on August 10, 2006, 10:57:59 PM
Ok, what am I missing here?  In a 1943 Superman newspaper strip, Superman sings:
"Whenever There's Trouble
I Do What I Can -
That's Why Far and Wide
I'm Called Superman -"

I thought it was a catchy jingle, so I googled it.  All I found was at the Supermanica Encyclopedia, which lists the character Geezer (seemingly from 1943 as well) singing:
"Wherever crime lurks,
I must seize her.
That's why far and wide
I'm called Geezer!"

So...where is this jingle from? Is Superman singing the original? (i.e. could this be from the radio show or something) Or are both Superman and Geezer modifying some earlier song?

...I've been able to identify all of Superman's other songs, but this one is bugging me...
