Title: Finally....Boomerang & Filmation Surprise Post by: Michel Weisnor on November 20, 2006, 03:54:01 PM After what seemed an eternity, my cable company picked up Boomerang. Besides fabulous classic cartoons, I was pleasantly surprised to find 1967 filmation Superman/Aquaman bumpers during the Justice League and Batman hour. Does anyone have more information about the Superman/Aquaman hour?

Does anyone have more information about the Superman/Aquaman hour? It's awesome! The writers were the same as the Silver Age writers on the comic, pure Silver Age Superman on TV! However, don't get too excited, since the animation makes Superfriends look like the old Fleischer Cartoons :-[ :-\ Title: Re: Finally....Boomerang & Filmation Surprise Post by: Michel Weisnor on November 21, 2006, 01:56:04 AM After what seemed an eternity, my cable company picked up Boomerang. However, don't get too excited, since the animation makes Superfriends look like the old Fleischer Cartoons :-[ :-\ I sort of dig the animation, well at least the character designs. ;) Hey, I was wondering, what was the release schedule for this series? It's funny, most websites list 1967 shows by superhero but not actual order. I've decided to rip each short and place them in sequential order. Any help would be fantastic. Cool, the second episode of the All-New Superfriends Hour just finished. I've never watched ANSFH except on youtube so this is another treat. ;D Title: Re: Finally....Boomerang & Filmation Surprise Post by: Gernot on December 22, 2006, 07:46:11 PM I'm pretty sure the 1960's Superman cartoons went like this:
Superman/Superboy Hour: 1966 Superman/Aquaman Hour: 1967 Batman/Superman Hour: 1968 Batman was, of course, on ABC-TV between 1966 and 1968, so he couldn't appear in cartoons with other heroes on CBS until his show was cancelled. There were, besides numerous cartoons of Superman, Superboy, Aquaman, and Batman, 3 cartoons of each of the following: Justice League Teen Titans Green Lantern Atom Flash Hawkman The Justice League's membership consisted of: Superman Green Lantern Atom Flash Hawkman The Teen Titans' membership was: Aqualad Kid Flash Speedy Wonder Girl I always thought it weird that Speedy and Wonder Girl were in Titans, while their mentors were nowhere to be seen! And Aqualad appeared in MORE cartoons than Aquaman! If you search YouTube, you CAN find all 3 Justice League cartoons, too! :) Title: Re: Finally....Boomerang & Filmation Surprise Post by: Michel Weisnor on December 22, 2006, 11:43:30 PM I'm pretty sure the 1960's Superman cartoons went like this: Superman/Superboy Hour: 1966 Superman/Aquaman Hour: 1967 Batman/Superman Hour: 1968 Batman was, of course, on ABC-TV between 1966 and 1968, so he couldn't appear in cartoons with other heroes on CBS until his show was cancelled. Filmations are now only playing after the Herculoids just before 3:30am EST. I've finished most Aquaman and JLA segments. A few nights ago, a Superboy short aired. :D So far, I captured almost all Superfriends episodes. ;D I quite enjoy this romp through past DC cartoons. While HB animation lacks in some episodes, storywise, well as an example, last night, our favorite Superfriends crossed paths with Middle Earth folk! Batman was a Hobbit for goodness sake! Title: Re: Finally....Boomerang & Filmation Surprise Post by: Klar Ken T5477 on December 23, 2006, 06:16:59 AM Comics/animation legend Alex Toth designed the Super Friends.
I think whoever did the Filmation designs was paying close attention to Swan, Papp and Plastino's work on Supes at the time. Title: Re: Finally....Boomerang & Filmation Surprise Post by: Uncle Mxy on December 29, 2006, 12:23:59 PM If you really want to pay close attention, you film the actual comic book art, then crudely animate around it. :)

Bird lady(I don't recall her name) creates a device that homes in on Hal's brainwaves and when it does, a giant bird flys into the back of Green Lantern's head and knocks him out. |
