Title: Mr. Terrific: He's Good at Everything!
Post by: TELLE on April 30, 2007, 05:34:33 PM
I think they killed this character again recently, but now you can read his origin story online.  Reading this, he seems better even than Batman.

To paraphrase Stephen Colbert, "Mr. Terrific: great superhero, or the greatest superhero?"

Evidently not the same Mr Terrific who was a short-lived TV in the 60s deigned to cash in on the Bat-Craze?

You can't help liking a character who becomes a superhero out of ennui. Why didn't he go into politics?

Well, he's good at almost everything.  He can't design a decent costume to save his life.

I always loved the fact, Mr. Terrific believes in fair play so much, he uses it as his insignia.  ;D

Most of his appearances in JLA as part of the JSA teamups didn't emphasize the fact that Terry Sloane was good at everything.  He was simply shown as an athlete in a costume. They did give him the nickname "Man of a Thousand Talents" but never played that up much or even explained it.
