Title: 52: Earths 4 and 5

Administrator's note: This thread has been split from this one (http://superman.nu/smf/index.php?topic=3503.0).

Thank you Jeff Smith for allowing me to keep my sanity, if it wasn't for your version of the Marvel Family, I would be losing it right now.

Perhaps the Jeff Smith Captain Marvel lives on Earth-5; while the new guy in the hoodie lives on Earth-DC.

I notice that Earth-1 is conspicuously absent from that list.  Is the current Earth-DC considered an altered Earth-1, or is Earth-1 something different?  Or did it now never exist?  Maybe it had to be erased because of the existence of Superboy.  Given that the current Superman seems to have now had a history with the Earth-1 Legion, I'm speculating that the new Superman incorporates his Earth-1 counterpart.

And talk about complex!  Not only was there a pre-Crisis Earth-2, there is now also a post-Infinite-Crisis Earth-2.  So all those pre-Crisis Earth-2 stories may or may not have actually taken place on the post-Infinite-Crisis Earth-2; and if they did, they probably happened in a different manner from what you actually read.

I'm glad I'm as old as I am or I'd never be able to keep it all straight!

Jeff Smith DID say it was canon.

Earth-5 not to be confuse with Earth-S...

Earth-2 not to be confuse with the pre-crisis Earth-2 or the Post Crisis Earth-2 which is now Earth-3 which in turn should not be confuse with the pre-crisis Earth-3...

... brain melts...

New Earth Ted Kord is still dead. New Earth-4's Blue Beetle costume resembles Dan Garret's version. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

What does it say about me that of all the billions of people in the multiverse, the ones that concern me most are the Blue Beetle and the Marvel Family? I just want them to get rid of the new Beetle and bring back the guy with the entomological hovercraft. And vitamin 2X, while they're at it.

But the "REAL" Captain Marvel is not now on earth-5?  ???

A new version of the famous Fawcett Marvel Family lives on Earth-5. One Newsrama interview cited Mark Waid's interest in writing an Earth-5 classic Captain Marvel. We'll have to wait and see.

5 and S kind of look the same when you squint.

Is that the point?

Yep, 5 equals S and X is 10.

i heard somewhere that the marvels where on earth-S for Shazam, but then they couldnt have an earth 5 because in the old lettering system S and 5 tended to look simular in print

Variations are present on multiple Earths. Trials of SHAZAM! is a continuation of modern Captain Marvel. Earth 5 appears to be Fawcett Continuity, unsure of the era. Jeff Smith's Monster Society of Evil most likely takes place on another unnamed Earth.

Same goes for Earth 4. On New Earth, The Question Vic Sage recently died to create a legacy character in Renee Montoya. However on Earth 4, another Question Vic Sage exists more akin to Steve Ditko's interpretation mixed with Alan Moore's Rorschach.
