Title: Brave & the Bold #2 and 3
Post by: AMAZO on June 04, 2007, 06:52:35 PM
First Post! I picked these up the other day because of the Perez art, and really rather liked them. Supergirl seems far more interesting here than she has in years in the Super-titles. In her own current title she comes off as, well, whiny and stupid. I wish she was this clever and fun in her other appearances. Did anyone else read these? So far I like the senior/junior hero schtick they've been playing up between GL and SG, and Bats and Beetle (I haven't bothered to look at the Beetle's book yet, anyone know if it's any good?).

( I also think Blue Beetle has a god-awful "Liefeldian" costume.)

I quite like the first three issues; I especially enjoyed the way #1 started off with Green Lantern baffled at the discovery of a dead body in outer space, prompting him to seek out Batman - it was a situation that called for both their talents, so for once the justification for a team-up actually made sense.

As for the new Blue Beetle, it's true that his costume is god-awful, but at least he has a god-awful book to go with it - dull, uninspired, poorly laid out. Its central idea seems to be "Hey, let's make the Beetle Hispanic, and a teenager". Then they ran out of ideas.

Yeah, let's keep cold the champagne until Ted Kord (the REAL Blue Beetle) drop a nuclear bomb over Jaime Reyes or something ;D
