Title: Looks like a couple of great films coming up...

It's kind of strange, having loved GL comics (Silver Age) as a kid, and seeing it coming out as a blockbuster movie. It can never match the inner world and imagination of a 10-year-old reading comics, but I will get a kick out of seeing a childhood hero come to life of a sort.

Even viewing those short clips, I still don't see why the hero in these films always has to be cut from exactly the same cloth, ie. an adolescent in manner, coming out with very weak wisecracks in every scene.

Then there's X-Men........ I'm looking more forward to this one.

Looking forward to Green Lantern's big screen debut.

I am pleased it is the Hal Jordan version, who was/is one of my three favorite comic strip characters, even as a kid (the other two being Superman and Batman).

It's curious what we have as our favourites when young. Mine were definitely Superman, GL and Flash, then Batman as No. 4 -- till I discovered Spider-Man and I was hooked, so he joined the mix. Mind you, I also liked The Phantom in the FREW editions, which you'd be familiar with.

I'm trying to think of ANY comic book heroes that translated to the screen. I don't know that they do. The best example I know of is George Reeves' Superman, and maybe Tobey Maguire's Spidey. I think they captured something of the comics.

Yes, Aldous, I have about 400+ issues of Frew's Phantom comic, although I stopped buying it about four years ago.

I think I have every Falk/Moore/McCoy/Barry story in that lot, or extremely close to it (I must do an inventory some time).

I wouldn't quite put the Phantom up there with my DC favorites, though.
