The architect of today’s Legion of Super-Heroes, Paul Levitz, delivers a science fiction odyssey on a scale you’ve never seen in a new, 6-issue miniseries!
The broad strokes of the Legion’s origin are well known, but you’ve never seen the secret machinations that went on behind the scenes! Why was the organization known as the United Planets formed? Who tried to kill R.J. Brande the first time? And what great power could leave entire planets desolate and lifeless? Cosmic Boy, Saturn Girl and Lightning Lad may have founded the Legion, but the story starts here!

"According to DC, while familiar to fans, the Legion's origin has only been told in 'broad strokes' before, and this large-scale sci-fi odyssey delves into the secrets behind the scenes, including explaining how the organization known as the United Planets originally formed."

Re: that first cover image...I can't believe we got through the 90s without someone turning Chameleon Boy's arm into a gun (did we?) but better late than never I guess.  Although it does beg the question of what exactly he could use for ammo.  Logically anything that comes out of that barrel would represent a lost piece of himself.

Putting Chris Sprouse (back) on the Legion is genius, though.

"When DC approached Paul Levitz about writing the Legion: Secret Origin mini-series, he wasn't interested in telling yet another version of the Legion of Super-Heroes' founding.

But the writer did want to give new readers a primer on Legion history, introducing them to the exciting DC Universe of the 31st Century.

So in October, when Levitz launches the six-issue Secret Origin mini with artist Chris Batista, readers will not get a retelling of the Legion's origin.

Instead, the comic will concentrate on the "secret" part of its title, exploring the unknown parts of the founding events."

I'm just glad that DC announced that the Legion titles are among the 3 DC titles not getting a serious reboot (the other 2 are Batman and Green Lantern)

The Legion's timeline has been the biggest victim of reboots so glad to see it won't seriously be affected this time.
