Title: "Superman's SUPER-RIVAL!"
Post by: Great Rao on August 13, 2003, 11:46:37 PM
New online comic:

"Superman's SUPER-RIVAL!" (http://superman.nu/tales3/rival/)
Featuring Superman's Pal, Jimmy Olsen!

Also be sure to read the letters page (http://superman.nu/tales3/rival/?page=10) - I can't be sure,
but I suspect that the second letter was written by a
young John Byrne...

Ha, could be!

Interestingly, I found another letter I also suspected Byrne for.  The writer complained that Superman was too powerful, needed his powers cut in half and should lose the ability to breathe in space (!!!).

The editor's response was great: "After nearly 30 years of success, you want Superman to change! Sheesh!"

That was a touching story and one of those motifs that made the Silver Age sagas SUPERb.

Thanks again

The loyalty of Superman robots, even when off or gone rogue was always a memorable experience...
