Title: Hugh Jackman cast as George Reeves Post by: valdemar on February 20, 2003, 02:09:09 AM The news is that Hugh Jackman has been cast as George Reeves in the upcoming murder mystery biopic, Truth, Justice & the American Way.

I think they only chose Hugh Jackman because of his big name appeal. But Brendan Fraser would have been completely perfect as Reeves and had the big name. Kyle MacLachlan was an excellent choice and I was rooting for him. I know that he had been lobbying for the role and I think he was even cast by the Polish brothers before they got thrown off the project. I think Jackman will do fine.

A retro costume would be more accurate, of course, but I wouldn't be surprised if they used one of the newer designs.

From the test shots, or audition footage, I've seen floating about, MacLachlan seemed to be the top choice for the role. (Even though I think MacLachlan was a horrible Paul Atredis.)
Unfortunatly, Hollywood does not work on who is the best choice for the role and Jackman is somewhat a "hot property" nowadays. I am, however, willing to give him a chance. I didn't object to Keaton. In fact, he was the best Batman there ever was.
