I think i've seen this one before. If it's the one i'm thinking of, the story was similar to war of the worlds.

It is. Speaking of which, there are three WotW movies on tap for this year and next:

- a low-budget period-set piece made by Pendragon Pictures

- a CGI animated adaptation of Jeff Wayne's infamous musical album

- a big-budget Tom Cruise/Steven Spielberg version that, due to legal problems caused by Jeff Wayne and Pendragon (long story there), is a present-day reworking of the story (they originally wanted to do the Wells book full-blown)

Three to choose from, I guess.
