The recent JLU cartoon episode "Ultimatum" featured a group of young heroes called the Ultimen --an homage to the Superfriends TV show and the characters of Apache Chief, Samurai, Black Vulcan and the Wonder Twins!

This is why "fanboys" need to get older, to laugh at history and memories, and relax a bit on "life and death" decisions on horrendous or fantastic COMIC book writers, for gawd's sake...
