Apparently there were plans to do a Legion of Superheroes animated series, but it fell through.  Here are some designs for the series that were done by Steve Lightle:

Lightning Lad:

Emerald Empress:

The teams:

Now that would have been something to see!

After viewing the Legion appearance in Superman The Animated Series I was sure that the Legion would have been picked up and after the success of the Justice League cartoon I was positive another team cartoon would be made and it has been - The Teen Titans and it will be set in the future.

LSH the series would have been so cool and perhaps out there somewhere someone is saying what about that group of heroes in the 30th century.

It would have been better if the toon LSH had been designed in keeping with their Swan/Klein look that might have been ably realized in the hands of say an Alex Toth or Steve Rude - keeping the simplicity yet subtle charcterizations rather than the anime may wongs pictured above.

Sorry, bad pun.

There were plans for an LSH series after their guest appearance on Superman:  TAS, but they fell through.  Instead we get Teen Titans.

Would have liked Legion of Super Heroes better but feel that Teen Titans will be okay.  Just hope that someone somewhere is working on a Superboy and The Legion of Super Heroes cartoon for the future.  (Superboy you say?  Yes why not?  The Legion could pull Clark forward in time for a few adventures and yes he could be Superboy as he did have powers in that epsidoe)
