Well, I know for a fact that Tom Welling is really not interested in playing the

role, but you know what, It's a petition and I believe that there is

still some desire left in him. I actually mailed a letter for him

challenging him for the role and he did try to respond answering in a

fanmail type. I respect his so called inhibition to wearing tights

because he didn't want to be tied down to the supes character but I

think he would be better off trying to take on a legendary ICON role

than wait for his big break to stardom. I mean what are the chances of

a TV series personality making it big in hollywood, Yah there are some

who made it but you could count them on your fingers. And maybe, being

optimistic, history won't repeat itself as in the case of Christopher

Reeve. Chris was already 30+ then that's why, not much was left for him

to move on while Tom is like 25 something, I don't think he would just

be type-casted for too long. I'm sureTom Welling may have this movie as

his stepping stone to stardom if he really is that talented of an

actor.

And as for the term UNKNOWN personality, I believe Tom Welling is still

an unknown. Why would I say that, well, how popular is Tom Welling. He

hasn't made any blockbuster movie yet,and besides if you watch

entertainment news, how much of Tom Welling are you getting, right? Just

like this, for other's, Smallville is just another Lois and Clark

series that they don't wan't to give much of an attention to. But for

us and if you would agree, and I guess Christopher Reeve already had

agreed (before they made the episode Rosetta) that Tom is the fitting

role for this character. You know, who would better give a

comment/suggestion than the true superman himself to say that Tom is

the best one. Chris didn't become a superman just by a casting,he was

like,he was meant to be.

Another thing, some would say, yah, he looks very young but we could

work on that, what are hollywood make-up artists for. I don't know,

there's too much potential in this guy that really makes him suitable.

And as by saying we could work on making his face mature, I'm thinking

in my own opinion, the best suitable Lois Lane would be Courtney Cox (

a younger version of Margot Kidder). Well, they can also make her look

younger too right? But my personal favorite is actually Alyssa Milano.

Both of these actresses could actually cary on portraying this

clumsy, witty and sweet character. But what the hell do I know?

I also heard that they're really down right fast in casting the

superman coz it will be for summer 2004, If Tom is not that stupid

enough to end his career, before he knew it, the series of Smallville

would end and where would he be,well, by that time, I guess he would

definitely be superknown already,then what...hmm...a type-casted clark

kent tv character. I believe he wouldn't want that to happen. At least,

probably after taking the role of superman, best follow up movies for

him are romance, comedy, drama (not action definitely) or you'll never

know, probably JUSTICE LEAGUE THE MOVIE ; .

So, I guess that's it. I would just say, I hope a small petition like

this (which is actually intended for Tom) would make a bit of an impact

to people in WB.

You seem to think you know a lot bout Chris Reeve. Actually he was only 24 when he got the part for STM. He was 34 when SIV was released. He still had more in him but he knew the franchise was being played about and he refused to do more after III but wrote the story to IV but the new producers, Cannon, decided after getting LOADS of MILLIONS for SIV to out it into He-Man Masters Of The Universe instead. Thats why it looks so bad!
