I can't account for the huge sums this frankly inferior-looking toy commands, but maybe it's got some historical significance.  It seems plausible this was the first toy ever to feature Aquaman and the Flash in figure form.  :?:

Then again, I guess you can never overestimate the power of nostalgia.  I just unloaded my old Mego Wayne Foundation playset for a tidy sum, and that, in my opinion, was a hunk of junk.  I figured it was time to sell; folks my age won't have disposable income forever (soon we'll need it for Depends undergarments and Super-Poli-Grip) and anyone younger than us is unlikely to see the value in this stuff.

Of course I could be wrong and ten years from now it'll be selling for tens of thousands of dollars.  In which case I'll be devoting my limited funds to a drinking habit.

Does anyone remember if these figures were available ONLY in these two sets?  I only remember having Superman, Batman, Robin, Joker, and Penguin when I was growing up.  I don't remember the Thunderbolt or Keyman at all.

YaY!  I just found another pic of a different grouping of heroes and villians!

This one's got Superman and Aquaman versus two of the villians!

So, I DID remember these things coming out in different boxes!  Wink
