Excellent call, Telle.  The Old-Timer (later his real name was revealed to be Appa Ali Apsa) impersonated the Terran, Fellman Gordon, as you said.

I found it an interesting play on names that 'Fellman Gordon' sounds close to 'Fallen Guardian'.

And, yes, Fellman Gordon is arguably Eric McLuhan as you suggested, just as Asa Esaak is Isaac Asimov.
