Press Release

IMAX Corporation and Warner Bros. Pictures today announced that Superman Returns will be simultaneously released to both IMAX® and conventional theatres on June 30, 2006. The epic action-adventure is directed by Bryan Singer ("X-Men" films, The Usual Suspects) and marks a soaring new chapter in the saga of one of the world's most beloved superheroes. The 35mm version of Superman Returns will be digitally re-mastered into the unparalleled image and sound quality of The IMAX Experience® and Warner Bros. Pictures will be the exclusive distributor of the film to the growing worldwide IMAX theatre network.

"'Superman Returns' is going to be an epic adventure, and by also offering the film in IMAX's format, we're giving audiences a unique way to experience the return of the Man of Steel," said Dan Fellman, President of Domestic Distribution at Warner Bros. Pictures. "The IMAX theatre network is generating impressive box office returns for Warner Bros. Pictures, and we're excited to continue releasing more of our biggest films in IMAX's format."

"We specifically developed the IMAX DMR® conversion process so we'd be able to showcase tentpole pictures like 'Superman Returns' on the IMAX canvas, and we're delighted to be working with our great partners Warner Bros. Pictures to bring this huge event film to IMAX theatres," said IMAX Co-Chairmen and Co-CEOs Richard L. Gelfond and Bradley J. Wechsler. "IMAX is assembling a diverse and attractive collection of films for next year, which we believe will help drive further expansion of the IMAX theatre network and provide incentive for moviegoers to visit their local IMAX theatres again and again."

"Warner Bros. Pictures has a special expertise in developing groundbreaking tentpole films, and we're thrilled to partner with the studio again on a picture expected to be one of the biggest of 2006," said Greg Foster, Chairman and President of IMAX Filmed Entertainment. "Bryan Singer is a cutting edge filmmaker, and when moviegoers experience his unique vision of Superman in IMAX theatres, they're going to feel like they are flying right alongside the Man of Steel - an event not to be missed next summer."

Following a mysterious absence of several years, the Man of Steel comes back to Earth in the epic action-adventure Superman Returns, a soaring new chapter in the saga of one of the world's most beloved superheroes. While an old enemy plots to render him powerless once and for all, Superman faces the heartbreaking realization that the woman he loves, Lois Lane, has moved on with her life. Or has she? Superman's bittersweet return challenges him to bridge the distance between them while finding a place in a society that has learned to survive without him. In an attempt to protect the world he loves from cataclysmic destruction, Superman embarks on an epic journey of redemption that takes him from the depths of the ocean to the far reaches of outer space.

Warner Bros. Pictures presents Superman Returns directed by Bryan Singer and starring Brandon Routh (Clark Kent/Superman), Kevin Spacey, Kate Bosworth, James Marsden, Hugh Laurie, Sam Huntington and Eva Marie Saint. Written by Dan Harris and Mike Dougherty. Produced by Gilbert Adler, Jon Peters and Bryan Singer; co-produced by Stephen Jones; and executive produced by Chris Lee. Superman Returns is based on the DC Comic Book Superman.

I'll be seeing Superman Returns at the IMAX in Framingham, Massachusetts.  If anyone here wants to join me, I think that'd be great.

"The bottom line involves choices.  Neither gods nor humans have ever stood calmly in a minefield forever.  Good or evil, they are bound to choose.  And when they do, you will see the truth of all that motivates us.  As a thinking being, you have the obligation to choose.  If the fate of all mankind were in your hands, what would your decision be?  As a writer and an artist, I've drawn my answer."   - Jack Kirby
