Superdupont

Real Name: Unknown

Identity/Class: Human mutant or mutate?

Occupation: Protector of France and all that is French

Affiliations: None known

Enemies: Antifrance

Known Relatives: None

Aliases: None

Base of Operations: France, most notably Paris

First Appearance: Fluide Glacial

Powers/Abilities: Superhuman strength, invulnerability, able to fly. Can fire a ray from his hands immediately curing gonorrhea. “In him the many virtues and qualities of the French genius are united”(description by some cosmic entity)

History: Superdupont was a "sort of parodic Superman who fought the Antifrance"

Comments: Created by Gotlib, Alexis and Lob. Apparently "the 3 of them got the same idea at the same time. They didn't contend and shared the character. It was published in Fluide Glacial."

Thanks to Gérard Courtial for informing me about this character and providing information about him. Thanks to Cédric Pétiau for providing images of him. And thanks to Theodoor Westerhof for additional information.

Gérard Morvan notes that "one of his adventures was drawn by none other than Neal Adams. It showed Superdupont being called as an expert to the United States in order to thwart a crisis threatening Californian wines. Of course, he met various parodies of DC and Marvel heroes in the course of the story, which was published first in Fluide Glacial, and then in a softcover album titled "Superdupont: Oui Nide Iou". "

'Seth Hyperions' adds "Superdupont is meant to be an humoristic version of the worst French people, the very nationalistic ones."

CLARIFICATIONS: Not to be confused with any other Super people

You understand it is but a caricature of Superman, a rough portrait of the dumbass, chauvinist average frenchman.

Neal Adams collaborated with Gotlib and did "Zuperman vs Super Dupont". Unfortunately, I haven't found the pictures. One day, maybe...

You should see the epic fight between Super Dupont and Bruce Lee, who puts camembert in the fridge and drinks red wine with ice cubes to drive him mad.
