I have in mind the silver-age Lex Luthor, a super-genius super-scientist.  He was basically "more intelligent than an army of Einsteins".  With his intellect he could do just about anything he wants to do.  Imagine that you have that super-intellect.  What would you do with it?  Keep in mind that in this scenario there are no super-heroes, & no super-villains.  Unless you create some.  Here are some of the things i would do:

1.)  Eliminate most (if not all) diseases.

2.)  Build the biggest fortune in history.  Make Bill Gates look dirt poor in comparison.

3.)  Scan Venus & Mars for life of any kind.  If satisfied there is none there, terraform them.

4.)  Invent working ftl/warp drive.  As well as working time machines, & vehicles for exploring the multiverse.

5.)  Using resources in the asteroid belt ( as well as near-earth objects) create space habitats.  Outfit them with ftl/warp drive so they could be used to help colonize planets throughout the universe.

And of course there are other things i would do if i had that super-intellect.

With that level of super-intelligence building a multi-trillion dollar fortune should be super-easy.  Sell a few minor patents for financing.  Use that money to acquire/create the proper equipment for salvaging sunken treasure & shipwrecks.  It's been estimated that there is more than enough lost/sunken treasure to pay off the national debt, several times.  Then with the proceeds from that build a financial/business empire.  In the process acquire whoever you sold those initial patents to.  That way you have control of all your creations.  Most of them at least.

Imagine the special zoos/habitats such a super-genius could create.  Habitats representing various points from earth's past.

Invent a weather control machine that could turn away or negate Hurricanes. And than give the plans away to the world for free. Than I would supply the world with the parts and mechanisms and rare materials necessary to build them at a profitable price!

Weather control would be a good thing to do.  Imagine if we had control of the weather.  Tornadoes, hurricanes global warming/cooling would be things of the past.  Also i would find ways preventing earthquakes & volcanic eruptions.  Those ways would involve somehow relieving the internal pressures that cause earthquakes & volcanic eruptions.

Using time travel to learn more about our true history.  At the very least i would map out my own family tree over the past several millenia, or more.  Create a real Jurrasic (sp?) Park.  As well as parks representing every other period in the evolution of life on earth.  Not with cloning, but by gathering species & habitats through time travel.  Would be interesting to learn how usefull the Apatasaurur/Brontosaurus is for food.  Brontoburgers, anyone?

Certainly weather control and/or the ability to manipulate other natural disasters would be among Luthor's most secret assets.  Imagine the wealth and public good will that could be generated when Luthor is the first at a disaster zone with food and relief supplies, while his construction subsidiaries land lucrative rebuilding contracts.  (Why go through a bidding process when they're already on scene?)  And not to mention the side revenue generated by Lex's rescue equipment manufacturers, emergency housing contractors, medical providers, casket builders...  (CASKET BUILDERS?)

Lex doesn't have to buy up Mojave Desert property and stage "The Big One", but a few remote-controlled hurricanes and tornados every year can result in a guaranteed revenue stream.  And wasn't it so unfortunate for Lex's business competitors that their headquarters JUST SO HAPPENED to be totalled in an earthquake, demolished by a funnel cloud, or BURIED IN LAVA?

Some might wonder how Lex can ALWAYS be there when disaster strikes, while others accuse him of "profitting off human misery".  But PR agencies can easily make Lex into a hero for the masses, trumpeting his generous relief donations and speedy assistance compared to local, state and federal bureaucracies.  The fact that Lex's relief and rebuilding campaigns are carefully planned IN ADVANCE is naturally NEVER revealed, nor that Luthor actually CAUSES the disasters in the first place!

How about the goodwill Lex would get by preventing all natural disasters?   And the public gratitude.  He would have all humanity feeling indebted to him.  Imagine he does that & cures at least the 10-30 worst diseases.  Heck he even cures "old age".
