Just a heads up to folks here: I saw a preview of an interview with a crazed Superman collector last night on the Daily Show with John Stewart --I'm not sure if the actual piece is being run on tonite's (Wednesday's) show or on Thursday.  The show is on 11 PM on Comedy Central (Comedy in Canada) --and elsewhere elsewhen.

All of you guys are going to be astonished when you find out who it is.

It's our very own Gernot!

He confirmed as much himself here:

http://forums.comicbookresources.com/showthread.php?t=103437

Amazing how all the famous people seem to show up here. Remember when Al Shroeder III came by for a little while? Where IS that guy? I want to compliment him on his webcomic and how great his Wold-Newton theories are.

And "Klar Ken T5777" recently told me his real name - and I was amazed to discover that it was someone whose work I have really, really enjoyed for a very long time!

(By the way, T5777, I just read that article you did on Bigfoot race car driving. That was the greatest thing I've ever read.)

Now, if we can only get Elliot S! Maggin and Alan Brennert on this board, we'd be SOMEWHERE....

And what is Kurt Busiek? Chop Liver?

The sequence is now online for your viewing pleasure:

http://www.comedycentral.com/shows/the_daily_show/videos/dan_bakkedahl/index.jhtml

It's on the Dan Bakkedahl page on the Daily Show site.  The piece is called "Man of Steel Resolve."

While the bit set out to make fun of a man who lives in a cramped apartment full of Superman memorabilia and panhandles on Hollywood's walk of fame dressed as our hero, it turns into a bit about good vs evil (with a nod to Silver Age vs Iron Age), and the object of derision holds his own very well against the sarcastic comedian, doing honour to the costume.

A great 3 minutes!

I saw the show yesterday morning and thought it was great.  I wish I had half the stuff that guy had.  Oh well.  I am rather proud of what I do have.

I am, in fact, kielbasa.

But a tasty, succulent kielbasa, with sauteed onions and fresh latkes.

Okay, now I don't know what's creepier.  Kurt comparing himself to a succulent kielbasa, or Super-Monkey's signature quote...the more I read it, the more it seems Maggin has some unhealthy designs on a chimpanzee!

Boy, am I ready for the weekend.
