Thanks, Curt Swan, for all the memories that your art gave me, and a generation of comic book readers.

If there is a regret about Curt Swan, it is that his art was everywhere in the Superman books, and consequently we took Curt Swan and his genius for granted. I for one, only started to truly, truly appreciate him after he died. The prospect of not having any more realistic, anatomically correct, wildly imaginative, stylish, correct Superman art was scary and sobering.

Thanks, Curt - you were the greatest Superman artist there ever was.

It's hard to believe that FOUR DECADES worth of Superman art could seem like "not enough" but it's truly seems that way to me. If only Curt's time had been longer.

Good time as any to read this classic tale: http://superman.nu/tales2/flew/

That splash page of (and by) Curt Swan is the first picture I ever scanned for this website.

Without Curt, I don't think Superman would have made it as far as he did.

I was watching Superman Season 2 and the Defeat of Superman has his first TV encounter of kryptonite and when George was laying there affectedall I could think of was a similar pose that Curt did in the classic "Last Days of Superman" novel.

As with any penciller, it depends sometimes who's inks aid or ruin the art. But ACurt's pencils weere so clean, so pwoerful that whether Styan Kaye, Geo Klein, Murph, Frank Giacoa or Dave Hunt, the rowk is unmistakable Curt's.

And as many times as Ive read "I Flew With Superman" here, I read it again. Smiley
