Earlier today, I read the superbly drawn Superboy's Legion by Davis/Farmer. I was impressed by the team dynamic and camaraderie between members. However, I was at a loss by the sheer scope of the story. Plus, my ignorance of Legion history added to a little letdown. Where is a good place to start reading the Legion of Superheroes?

"The bottom line involves choices.  Neither gods nor humans have ever stood calmly in a minefield forever.  Good or evil, they are bound to choose.  And when they do, you will see the truth of all that motivates us.  As a thinking being, you have the obligation to choose.  If the fate of all mankind were in your hands, what would your decision be?  As a writer and an artist, I've drawn my answer."   - Jack Kirby

I wish that DC would do a Showcase Legion, it would be very easy to do and cost them next to nothing to make and bring in lots of cash.

Next question, what are the quintessential Legion storylines?

The Magic War where Mordru was the big villian.

The Legion try-outs with Arm Fall Off Boy, just for the laugh factor.

The introduction the the Substitue Legion of Super-Heroes

The first round with the Fatal Five, Mordru - anything frankly from the original run in Adventure (except for the stories illoed by Pete Costanza)

Starfinger has some suspense...

I liked the original Time Trapper, lots of power but instead he turned the Legion into babies instead off the intended primaeval slime, Glorith had a cool evil expression...

Shooter's first story, Legion try-outs and "one of us is a traitor"...
