Did James Bond himself help playtest DUNGEONS & DRAGONS? Look at the credits page of the November 2000 second printing of the PHB. Under SPECIAL THANKS, it lists "Roger Moore."

Okay, yeah, "Roger Moore" is a common name and it's probably not the same guy that did LIVE AND LET DIE and and FOR YOUR EYES ONLY. But still. The idea of Sir Roger in his tuxedo around a gaming table surrounded by pimply college kids, 20 sided dice in one hand, martini in the other, as he tells his Dungeon Master "I insist on living dangerously" is too funny.

By the way, the list also includes a "Steve Miller." Insert your own joke here.

Many celebrities are known DUNGEONS & DRAGONS fanatics, including Samuel L. Jackson and Vin Diesel.

"You encounter an orc. The odds favor standing down."

"If you play the odds."

I know Sir Roger has a great love of Backgammon, but I think that's it for board games.  However, there's always a scene in the Bond films and novels where 007 faces down the villain in a game of chance, and now that they've exhausted baccarat, backgammon, Mahjong and soon Texas Hold-em Poker, maybe it's time for a high-stakes game of D&D.  I can picture it now...Sir Roger versus Christopher Lee staring across the table in a vicarious battle of swords and sorcery.  Smiley

Sorry to shake up your martini, Julian, but Roger E. Moore is not the actor, but the longtime magazine editor for TSR.  See:
