I'm curious about that too.  All it says in the script is:

Yeah, dramatically it seemed like it was meant to be a big reveal, but because "Rocks" is still pretty much obscured under the hat and mask outline, it doesn't appear to be anything interesting except that the caption says that Clark is "startled".  I was trying to make "Rocks" recognizable as the guy we saw with the silver hair on page 3. Not trying to overdo the effects, I just thought it helped the storytelling.
