Hi all-

I've searched my dogeared Great Superman Book and the mighty Supermanica but still can't find it:

Where/When did Perry first exclaim "Great Caesar's Ghost?"

Apologies if it's in there and I missed it, but any help would be appreciated.

Or, for that matter, when did he first start telling Jimmy not to call him "chief"?

Not a clue, however if I had to take a wild guess, I would say perhaps the Radio Show?

I thought it came from the TV series Adventures of Superman. In fact, wasn't there an episode where some crooks took advantage of Perry's catchphrase and had a guy dressed up as the ghost of Caesar to dupe Perry?

The TV show had an episode in 1955 based on (as far as I can tell) the comic of '54 (see Supermanica here

http://superman.nu/wiki/index.php/Great_Caesar's_Ghost!

but the whole gag of these plots seem to be (have to be) based on Perry using it over and over again earlier (so much so they made a story out of it!).  I'm thinking the radio show is a good suggestion since it was responsible for so many other things, but want to rule out the comics.  But yeah "Stop calling me Chief" is another good question.

The first one I have actually seen is in Superman 86 in January 1954...
Perry says it when he hears shots at night...
