Was wondering if anyone's read this classic Superman story, "The Thing From 40,000 AD" from Superman #87 (Feb. 1954) and reprinted several times since then... I have yet to read it myself (even the reprint issues I read that the story was republished in didn't seem too easy/affordable to find), but I've always liked the cover (both the original Win Mortimer version and the Curt Swan one) I've seen for this story...

The original Mortimer cover:
http://www.comics.org/coverview.lasso?id=11095&zoom=4

The Swan cover:
http://www.comics.org/coverview.lasso?id=20963&zoom=4

Anyone have any thoughts/remarks on this story? (Or on its 1986 DC Comics Presents sequel I read was written where the Thing makes a comeback)?

Yes. I've always liked the story. I don't suppose I can say too much about it seeing as you haven't read it yet.
