I was over at marvelmasterworks.com and stumbled across Marvel Omnibus editions. These are oversized Marvel Masterworks with added material. Believe it or not, Marvel's going to re-publish the original Silver Surfer series as well as Fantastic Four Vol 2 with all the Galactus goodness you can read.

Silver Surfer Omnibus Vol 1: Silver Surfer #1-18/release date: June 6, 2007 /576 pages

Fantastic Four Omnibus Vol 2 (includes Mighty Thor: The Eternal Saga)/release date: June 20, 2007/832 pages

These things do look pretty cool.  For me, the draw would be that Spider-Man volume, collecting every Ditko Spidey story in one book.  Since that's all the Spidey I care about, it's perfect for me.

Trouble is, I've already got all that in those little paperbacks from the 70s, the recent Essentials and now as free inserts in my local newspaper (!).  So it's kind of hard to justify the price tag.  Especially since early Marvel art reproduces much more poorly than DC material from the same period.  They must've lost all their original film or something.

I had forgotten about the Eternals - thanks for the reminder!  That'll hold me over until the first volume of Fourth World comes out.

clearly these are for hardcore fans only. Most of these stories can be had in Essentials book for super cheap.
