I run sort of hot and cold on Jerry Ordway's art lately but I see he has a blog up and running. It's got some pretty neat stuff there.

I kinda like this Superboy commission:

He's also got possibly the coolest picture of Mighty Mouse ever (remember, Mighty Mouse is a cartoon, Superman is a real guy):

And Jerry getting beat up by 1960s Batman:

What could be better than that?

I always thought that Jerry Ordway was one of the best Superman artists ever. Too bad he had to work in Superman's darkest, sickest and crappiest period. It's a shame.

Laurel Kent--- Superman and Lois Lane's descendant in the 30th century, who was invulnerable but had no other powers;  she studied with the Legion of Super-Heroes. In some late 1980s stories, the Superman cape, worn sort of toga-style,  was her idea of a "costume". Girl didn't wear much in the way of clothes!

Considering that Laurel was invulnerable and that weather control was standard among the United Planets, wearing a layer of protection against the elements seems somewhat redundant.  In other stories, Laurel is wearing nothing but a black bikini -- how her strapless top managed to stay in position is one of the marvels of 30th Century science and engineering.   Wink

And it's interesting that Lana seems friendly with Laurel, considering that Laurel's ancestor was very likely Lana's future rival -- Lois Lane!  Laurel must be secretly enjoying this irony...

Be sure to check out Jerry's older blog entries -- there's some nice Superman art during March 2007.

Even more amazing that a girl could walk around nearly naked in 1950s small-town America and everyone seems okay with it!

That was Laurel Kent's debut story, before she trimmed her hair, ditched the boots and chose an even skimpier bathing suit:

(Yes, she's barefoot and that "raven-wing" bra has no back straps.)   Wink

I'd prefer her original (and relatively more practical) costume, with either hairstyle, "pancho-cape" optional:
