I had a look at this trade paperback in the local shop today.

I thought the art was very good, very attractive... but what's the storyline like? It seems to be all about the return of the real Supergirl to the mythos. I don't even know who the other Supergirl is, the one in the trendy outfit. I'm so out of touch with the whole modern Supergirl story.

Is the TPB worth getting...? Is it really about the true Supergirl (Kara from Argo City)? Is it all just a waste of time, adding to the general sense of confusion I get from the current Supergirl situation?

As an aside, I had a look at all the new comic books on the stands, and I couldn't see a Supergirl book. Is "Supergirl" still being published or has it been cancelled? I just figured I'd have a look at the current issue... (Well, maybe it was just sold out.)

It's cancelled. This was the final storyline.

Sad but true. I wish I could say I supported the title, but unfortunately the Post Crisis Supergirl never did much for me at first. I did come to like Linda Danvers when she became her own heroine seperate from the Matrix entity. . .and then the next thing I know in comes Kara Zor-El. Hehe. Needless to say I was a little conflicted between the love for the classic or the new school. Each have their own merits, and I'm sorry to see them shelved in favor of some editorially-imposed interloper.

As to the Supegirl confusion. . .hoo boy join the club. Aside from Linda and Kara, you've got the newcomer Cir-El (possibly Clark and Lois's daughter from the future) Power Girl (who was once thought to be Kryptonian. . .oh wait she's Atlantean. . .oh wait she might be Kryptonian again. . .arrgh. . .) and finally the mysterious Kara from the first Superman/Aliens series, which featured an Argo-like floating city beseiged by the cinematic horrors.

*sigh* DC Coninuity. You gotta love it huh?

I like my continuity off to the side. To me, an easier way to have handled the multiple Earths scenario would have been to stop referencing it. *shrugs* Ah well. At least DC seems to be coming to the slow and groggy realization that some people actually -prefer- the Golden and Silver Age heroes of yesteryear to their modern Grim 'n Gritty counterparts. And with the untapped resource of Hypertime, anything is possible. Now if I could just get DC to look at my Superboy revamp proposal. . .Kal-El, not Kon-El! And a Krypto who actually has a brain! :p

Better stop now or I'm liable to rant for hours. Cheers. Smiley
