Here we are with a brand new thread to start of a brand new direction for the Earth 2 project. Once again, I've redesigned Kal-El to give him a more "Golden Age" flavour. And this time, I'm including bios for each character so you can get a sense of how the history will unfold. So without further delay, here's the patriarch of the Superman Dynasty ... Superman 1938.

Real Name: Kal-El (Kryptonian), Clark Kent (Earth)
Occupation: News reporter for the Daily Planet
Citizenship: United States of America
Base of Operations: Metropolis

Background: Kal-El was the only child of Jor-El, one of the most gifted scientists on the planet Krypton, and Lara, an astronaut in the fledgling Kryptonian space program. When Jor-El learned that the planet faced imminent destruction due to unstable forces in its uranium core, he brought his findings to the attention of the ruling Science Council. However, the council members refused to acknowledge the possibility that Kryptonian society faced extinction. Jor-El, with Lara's assistance, spent his remaining time building a small rocket ship that would carry his infant son Kal-El to safety. The craft, with Kal-El aboard, was launched into space moments before Krypton exploded, and traveled on a pre-arranged course that would bring it to Earth. The ship crash-landed in a field near the town of Smallville, where it and the child inside were found by Jonathan and Martha Kent. The Kents eventually adopted Kal-El and raised him as their own son, naming him Clark Kent. As Clark matured, he began to discover that his alien physiology gave him powers and abilities far beyond those of ordinary mortals. Due to the strong moral upbringing his adoptive parents gave him, Clark resolved to use his powers to help those in need. In 1938, after his adoptive parents passed away, Clark moved to the city of Metropolis, where he became a reporter for the Daily Planet newspaper. Clark also created the costumed identity of Superman so he could use his super-powers without compromising his private life. Superman became the world's first super-hero, and battled various menaces including the Axis powers throughout World War II. He was also a charter member of the Justice Society of America, the world's first super-hero team. After the war ended, Clark married his long-time love, Lois Lane (also a Daily Planet reporter), and fathered the twins John and Laurel, who would carry on his heroic legacy.

Height: 6' 2" (188 cm)
Weight: 235 lbs. (107 kg)
Eyes: Blue
Hair: Black

Super-Powers: Superman possesses various super-powers due to his Kryptonian physiology. He has vast super-strength, the limit of which is unknown. However, it has been proven that he is perhaps the strongest being on Earth. He is nearly invulnerable to physical harm, and is able to survive without air, food, water or rest for an indefinite period of time. Superman also has the powers of flight and super-speed, enabling him to break even the time barrier. Superman's X-ray vision enables him to see through solid objects, and he has infra-red, telescopic and microscopic vision as well. His heat vision enables him to generate heat beams from his eyes that can melt virtually any substance. Superman's senses of hearing and smell are so acute that he can detect even the weakest sounds or scents. Superman has highly advanced mental functions as well.

Abilities: Superman has great proficiency in various fields of Kryptonian science.

Equipment: Superman generally employs no special equipment in his normal activities. However he has access to numerous technological devices stored in the Fortress of Solitude, a secret retreat located in the Arctic Circle.

Special Limitations: Superman's major vulnerability is to the effects of Kryptonite radiation, which will cause him great pain and weakness, and ultimately death with prolonged exposure. However, he will immediately regain his full health and power once he is removed from its presence. Superman is also somewhat sensitive to magic, and his X-ray vision cannot penetrate lead. Additionally, his powers are greatly reduced while under the rays of a red sun.

Coolness!  I think the black background on the S insignia is getting bit stale, though... but I like the feeling of parallel reality this version has!
