Superman Secundus is supposedly Superman's first successor, the beginning of the Superman dynasty. I always kinda liked to think that he was Kon-El moved further down the time-line a little, but I digress.

I recently noticed something about this character: he's very elusive, to the point I can only think of three actual times he's been drawn in a comic. And every time, he's had a different costume.

He was created for Superman One Million by Grant Morrison, and the first time he was ever drawn, he looked like this:

Kingdom Come Superman with a yellow background on the "S".

The second time was in All-Star Superman # 6, and he wasn't identified in the comic as Superman Secundus. Most of you will probably recognize this picture though.

Morrison confirmed that's who it was in the comments of the Absolute Edition. His costume this time was made to evoke Captain Marvel, as an example of a character who, like Superman Secundus, was created by applying the Superman formula to a different character.

It was probably the lack of clarification on his identity that led to the third costume:

This time was in Superman / Batman, and the story was written by Chris Roberson. Probably he considered Superman Secundus a footnote in his century spanning story, and didn't bother to do the research. But I loved that issue, so I'm willing to forgive him, and the costume isn't half bad.

I wanted to point this out, and to ask anyone interested what your thoughts are, whether it's on the costume or the character himself.

Personally, I'd like to see him more often. What about you all?

well pre-crisis when the "superman dynasty" showed up they had superman's exact costume design (and they kinda looked exactly like him too!!)

the Super-sons had the same costumes as superman and batman right? they just had sideburns and were skinnier

I always found that kinda boring...why not change the costume a little!!! come on!!!

I have the same problem with the superman-robots. I know they were suppose to fill in for superman once in awhile so they had to look like him but did they all have to look exactly like him?
