I think I might have to take a gander at Superboy now. I admit that I was completely turned off by Superpunk and have not even cared to keep tabs on him. If he HAS grown up and dropped the punk attitude and style...well, he'll never be the original Superboy, but he might be acceptable

I've skimmed a couple of the issues and taken a look. I have to say it's pretty good. I enjoyed the Legion Lost 12-parter a few months ago and I've always been a bit of a Legion fan.
The key thing about the series I find interesting is the writers' take on Superboy's presence in the Legion, particularly when Ferro gives Kon-El a replica of Superman's traditional costume to wear after his current outfit (jeans and a t-shirt? That's the -best- you can come up with? Yeesh.) is destroyed. Apparently, in the centuries since Kal-El left the Earth in the late 21st century (established in the awesome DC ONE MILLION, a great little trade about Superman's present and future), the Church of the Last Son has arisen, with followers believing in the philosophies of Superman. Naturally, when they see Kon in the suit, L-shaped Legion buckle or no, they view it as their very own second coming.
One thing I don't like is the lack of faith some of the Legionnaires have in Superboy. They see him as the leather-jacket wearing skirt chaser he used to be, while Connor (his new secret identity, Connor Kent. Natch.) has done some serious growing up over the years. It'll be interesting to see if he stays with the Legion, and how he might be able to finally step out of the big guy's shadow, even if it's a thousand years in the future.
