The 25th anniversary of Superman II's release is coming in 2005. Like most Superman fans, I want to see a restored Donner cut of Superman II, so I am launching a letter campaign via my Planet of the Apes website (http://www.theforbidden-zone.com). The plan is to send all the letters on one day, June 19, 2004. I hope you'll join me in spreading the word. I want to bombard the WB with mail in the day or two following June 19. Hopefully, the WB will listen and let Donner finally finish his movie for a special 25th Anniversary DVD.

i agree it would be good
I think if they completly digitally remastered it and get rid of the cartoon superman flying with a real background and making it look more new would be really cool to see

This is around the 1 hour and 33 minute mark into the movie.

The Phantom Zone Villians fly out of the Daily Planet pursuing Superman.

You see a backdrop of Metropolis buildings and proportionally sized images of Superman flying being followed by the 3 Phantom Zone Villains.

You can see another instance of this at the very end when Superman returns the dome/roof (along with flagpole) of the White House back onto the White House (around the 2 hour & 2 and a half minute mark).

Its possible though, that these are miniatures as opposed to animation. I didn't see anything in the credits that suggest animation, but I could have missed something or it might not be listed. Who knows?

I felt the Superman II DVD from a few years back was very empty in content compared to the stellar Superman The Movie DVD.

I look forward to WB doing Superman II justice on DVD.
