The problem I've had here is finding someone young enough to have a few sequels in them, who looks the part, -and- can actually act (which is where we got lucky with Helen Slater).  I think I've found the right girl -- Agnes Bruckner:

You guys are hitting in the way too old range. Supergirl was 15 when she arrived on Earth, so Dakota Fanning or Taylor Momsen would fit the part. Remember, they might want to make a total of six or seven movies, and any actress in her twenties would be way, way, way, way too old.
